Communication was very good throughout the project. Matthew spent time looking at the property, making suggestions and coming up with options for different ways of delivering the work. He gave us a detailed quote that meant we both knew what was included in the price. Once the building work started, he let us know any issues he found, and talked through what the different options were. The work was completed to budget and carried out with a high level of workmanship. It was evident throughout how much professional pride Matthew took in delivering high quality workmanship. We are very happy with the result and pleased to recommend Matthew.

Matthew and team gave a very competitive quote and completed the job in the timescale promised. They talked through the job before the quotation, what it would entail and explained clearly each element of the work required. They provided photos afterwards to show the work completed. Although I didn't employ him but chatted to him 3 times over the phone he was polite, knowledgeable and his advice was informative.

We needed our entire roof replaced, with new tiles, underfelt and insulation installed. Matthew and his team were very professional and courteous during the entire process, making sure to explain things clearly at every stage. While the tiles were off, we had some very heavy rain which caused some water to leak into the eaves and subsequently damage the ceiling to our downstairs room. Matthew made sure to repair the damage at no extra cost and prevent any more leaks. They installed new plasterboard and painted the whole thing. We also had a few holes and cracks in the loft room due to the roof works, which they filled in and made good at the end of the job. All rubbish was cleared afterwards promptly.

Matthew responded quickly to our advertisement and identified the root cause, and took my husband up on the roof to show him. I chose City Building and Roofing for the job because out of the 6 builders who evaluated the situation- their pricing was fair, their manner, excellent and their time spent explaining everything to someone who hasn’t a clue, was informative without being confusing. When teething (not even) problems occurred, they were straight on it and went above and beyond to get everything right. Matt has done a few jobs around the place for me – a fence, roofing work and other bits and pieces I couldn't do myself! The job consisted of removing some tiles to fix a leak and repainting the side of the building as the leak had caused it to turn green. Matthew and Lee replaced the glass conservatory-style roof over our rear extension (which was leaky and made the room very cold in winter) with a GRP "warm" roof incorporating two rooflights. The true sign of a professional with integrity is how they react when things don't go quite according to plan. Matthew and his team did the job as required, were utterly professional and acted with complete integrity. I have no hesitation in recommending him and would invite him back to do further work.
It is relatively easy to get a good review when everything goes smoothly, to get a good review even when they don't is something that really is hard earned. Things did go wrong, but Matthew's response was exemplary; he responded quickly, without hesitation and sorted the problem as soon as he possibly could.
This really is a class outfit.

We own what they call a lion house, an Edwardian property in Wandsworth. The brick column holding a heavy stone lion at the apex of the roof was disintegrating, causing the lion to lean rather dangerously, so it was a matter of urgency to get the brickwork replaced with new bricks, also the concrete plinth the lion sits on needed replacing. I contacted City Roofing, and luckily they were able to do the job quickly. I live in Cornwall, so it's always a problem finding builders etc who don't rip you off, do a substandard job because they know I won't re around to inspect, so I was taking my usual chance hiring Matthew (City Roofing), but he's done an excellent job, and I couldn't be happier, we spoke over the phone throughout, and what a nice guy to deal with, he sent pictures of before and after, so I was assured of his work, and the pictures told the story, a brilliant piece of work, done quickly and efficiently. I can happily recommend City Roofing, and should I need anymore building work done, they are definitely top of my list.
